20 years of water survey for flood protection

Our hydraulic water survey department turns 20! Find out how it came about here!

As part of the EU SAFER pilot project, the countries of Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland, under the leadership of Baden-Württemberg, have decided to draw up flood hazard maps.

In 2004, the survey of the Neckar and several tributaries was put out to tender EU-wide.

As a pioneer from the very beginning, we made a convincing impression and were commissioned with the surveying of watercourses and structures in several lots.

The pilot project led to the EU member states being asked to draw up flood hazard and risk maps.

Recognizing the signs of the times, we founded our own department with the first commission, which from then on took a leading position in HWGK surveying. Thanks to our high degree of flexibility, we can deploy up to ten survey teams simultaneously, depending on the task at hand.

In the last 20 years, we have surveyed more than 15,000 km of watercourses and more than 300,000 cross-sections for the production of flood hazard and risk maps.

Our previous survey areas range from Baden-Württemberg to Schleswig-Holstein. We have also carried out several projects in Austria, Switzerland and Poland.

We are proud to have been part of the pioneering EU pilot project SAFER and to have been contributing our expertise in flood hazard mapping ever since. Looking to the future, we look forward to continuing to make a significant contribution in this area and working together to find solutions to the challenges of climate change.
