Repair of the Schlüsselburg lock
In September and October, we carried out various surveying works for a steel construction company to repair the Schlüsselburg lock near Minden.
Built in 1956 and operated by WSV Weser, the lock in Schlüsselburg is one of six lock structures on the Middle Weser, which compensate for the difference in height of the Weser and thus make it navigable.
Our task was to support the steel construction company with the installation of the door suspension and the door seal. In order to keep the subsequent alignment as simple and efficient as possible, the steel components to be installed, such as jambs, neck bearings and turning column beams, were first provided with control points and precisely measured in the factory.
On site in Schlüsselburg, we used the control points to tachymetrically align the position and height to the millimetre and check that the airlock gates, which were later hung there, close and seal perfectly.
To do this, we were on site at times with two surveyors per day and night shift.
